YIAGA calls for prosecution of electoral offenders
Another election monitoring group, YIAGA Africa, has called for the prosecution of electoral offenders arrested by the security operatives.
The call was made by the Chairman, Watching the Vote-working Group, Hassaini Abdu, at a media conference on the governorship and state houses of assembly elections. Abdu said the March 9 election was fraught with violations of the electoral law and human rights.
YIAGA Africa also condemned the attack on journalists and civil society actors during the elections.
The group expressed concern over what it called continuous non-compliance with electoral guidelines and procedures and lapses in the electoral process which could undermine the integrity of the elections.
