Zamfara lawmakers reply to PDP, insist on impeaching Dep Gov Aliyu
Members of the Zamfara State House of Assembly, on Monday responded to the caution of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), on the impeachment of Deputy Governor Mahdi Aliyu Gusau, saying that the impeachment is constitutional.
Chairman of the House Committee on Information, Shamsudeen Bosko, in a media interaction, indicated that the Speaker of the House has formally served the Deputy Governor impeachment notice through the Secretary to the State Government.
The Zamfara lawmakers cited breaches of section 190 and 193 (1), (2) (a)(b)(c), of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended) as constitutional basis to impeach the Deputy Governor on allegations of abuse of office.
The Zamfara State House of Assembly is, however, undermining a subsisting order of a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory, which restrained the House from any move to Impeach the Deputy Governor.
