Zelenskyy to join G7 summit to brief leaders on Ukraine war
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is set to join the leaders of the G7 to discuss the situation in Ukraine at an online conference to be held on Sunday.
The spokesperson for the German government said on Friday that the meeting will take place on a historic day because nations around the world would celebrate the end of World War II in Europe and the end of National Socialism on May 8.
“The G7 group, which includes Britain, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Canada and the U.S. will hold an online conference to discuss the war in Ukraine.
“In addition to the crisis in Ukraine, other topics are also likely to be discussed,” Steffen Seibert said.
Germany currently holds the presidency of the group.
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz is also scheduled to give a televised speech focusing on the war in Ukraine to mark the anniversary of the end of World War II on Sunday, according to his spokesperson.
