17-yr-old girl arrested for stabbing her foster mother to death
The Ondo State Police Command has arrested a 17-year-old secondary school student, simply identified as Wumi, for allegedly stabbing her foster mother, Mrs Funmilayo Adelayi, to death.
It was gathered that the incident occurred at their residence in Oda, Akure last March 13, 2024.
Confirming the incident, the command’s spokesperson, Mrs Funmilayo Odunlami, said: “The suspect is in our custody and we have started an investigation into the matter but the family told us that the suspect had a mental health issue.
So, we are waiting for the medical report to ascertain that. The deceased is a foster mother of the suspect, she had been taking care of her since her childhood.”
National Daily gathered that the suspect, who was in SSS2 had to be withdrawn from school at a time when her mental challenge became pronounced.
She was later said to have been enrolled in a private school where she continued her education until she murdered the victim.
