Cartridge exposes 20-year-old gun-running by 77-year-old welder
Pa Michael Enipozi has fabricated illegal guns for more than 20 years of the 77 he has lived on earth so far.
He cranked out each artisanal gun for at least N30,000. His clients were far and near.
And he wasn’t expecting the runs to end suddenly—and even shamefully—as it did.
But it happened thanks to one of the clients that got Enipozi’s cover burned.
A combined team of policemen and vigilantes in Ozoro Community in Delta State, led by CSP Ogedengbe Areguamen, arrested him after a 28-year-old, Emma Ighodalo, got busted.
The younger criminal was caught with one live cartridge while two other members of their criminal gang escaped.
The Delta State Police Command confirmed the report in a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe.
“Upon interrogation, the suspect confessed that he threw his gun away somewhere in the bush as he was running and that he bought the said gun from one Michael Enipozi for the sum of #30,000.”
“The suspect led the Police to Irri village where the said Michael Enipozi ‘m’ of Irri in Isoko south LGA aged 77 years was arrested,” he said.
“Three double-barrel guns, two single barrel guns, and other tools used in producing guns were recovered from him.”
Enpozi said he is a welder, and the gaycats arrested were his clients.
“Manhunt for the other two fleeing suspects is ongoing.”
