2 Northern PDP presidential aspirants who may not settle for VP slot if the North is zoned out
Ahead of the 2023 general elections in the Federal Republic of Nigeria, prominent members of the main opposition party in the country, who are interested in picking the presidential ticket of the form, have been joining the contest for the presidential ticket of the party.
However, amidst the contest for the presidential ticket of the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), ahead of the 2023 general elections in the Federal Republic of Nigeria, there is still a growing political agitations for the presidential ticket of the party to be, definitely, zoned to the Southern part of the country.
Considerably, if the agitation for an outright zoning of the presidential ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the Southern part of Nigeria is obeyed, there may be possibility for some of the Northern aspirants for the presidential ticket of the party to fine-tune their contest and deviate, accordingly, to the contest for the Vice Presidential ticket of the party.
However, there are two northern members of PDP who are currently vying for the presidential ticket of the party, but may not want (or be allowed) to take the Vice Presidential ticket of the party, if the Northern aspirants are automatically restricted for their southern counterparts.
1. Bukola Saraki
Bukola Saraki was a former two term Executive Governor of Kwara State and a former President of the Senate. He is contesting for the presidential ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), ahead of the 2023 general elections in the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Former President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki, may not be allowed to take the vice presidential ticket of the party because of the geopolitical zone where he comes from.
It could be recalled that the National Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Iyorchia Ayu, hails from the North Central geopolitical, the same as Bukola Saraki.
Considerably, to embrace equity, fairness and unity among members of the party, the National Chairman of the Party and the Vice Presidential slot may not be allowed to be zoned to the same geopolitical zone and this may, possibly, stop Bukola Saraki from picking the vice presidential slot of the party, if the presidential ticket of PDP is zoned to the South.
2. Alhaji Atiku Abubakar
Alhaji Atiku Abubakar was a former Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria between 1999 and 2007. He has been contesting for the presidential seat of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, for quiet a long period of time. He hails from Adamawa State from the Northern part of Nigeria.
Considerably, if Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) zones the presidential ticket of PDP to the South, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar would, automatically, be out of the race for the presidential ticket of PDP.
Looking at his political status and the fact that he has occupied Office of the Vice President before, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar may not want to take the vice presidential slot of the party, if the presidential ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is zone to the Southern part of the Country.
