2023: Rep member Bagos, laud INEC, judiciary on court judgment
By Kingsley Chukwuka
A house of Representative member, Dachung Bagos (PDP-Plateau), has celebrated the victory his Party won at the Federal High Court in Jos, describing it as a sign that the PDP will win the 2023 governorship election in the State.
Bagos, who is the Chairman House Committee on Anti-corruption, said the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC), has failed in its bid to stop the Plateau State PDP from participating in the forthcoming general elections.
Recall that the Federal High Court sitting in Jos on Friday struck out the case by the APC challenging the victory of the PDP aspirant seeking to represent Langtang North-North State constituency, in the primaries held in May 2022.
Bagos said the Federal High Court verdict has exposed the APC plans against the PDP which the APC is planning to stop the entire PDP contestants for the 2023 elections from contesting.
The lawmaker who is also the PDP Candidate seeking reelection to Represent Jos South/Jos East Federal Constituency also commended the Federal High Court and the Judiciary for standing for Justice, adding that implies that the APC has fought its last battle and will be shown the way out in the next elections.
“The APC has failed the People, and they will be given a red card.
“President Muhammadu Buhari has accused state governors of stealing the money released through them to the local governments from the federation account, leaving the councils underdeveloped.
“Some of the governors take half of their councils’ allocations and hand the remaining part to the Chairmen”.
Bagos made the allegation at an event for the Senior Executive Course 44 (2022), of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) at the Presidential Villa.
He continued: “At the National Assembly, we have tried to amend the Constitution to give local governments autonomy, but the governors have refused by lobbying their state’s houses of Assembly to vote against it.
“As we draw closer to the 2023 elections, I call on all Plateau citizens to use their PVCs and give RED cards to the APC”, he said.
