5 months old baby, mother remanded in prison custody in Osun
A business woman and her five-months-old baby were on Wednesday remanded at the prison custody until the mother is able to perfect her bail condition.
The woman, Uche Portia, was dragged before an Ile-Ife Magistrates’ Court for fraudulently obtaining the sum of N335,000 from a complainant.
The accused was said to have collected the money from one Mrs Oluwaseyi Sijuwade, to supply her 50 bags of rice, but failed to do so.
It was learnt that Portia, 29, is facing a charge of fraud and stealing.
However, the Magistrate, Mrs Dorcas Ajiboye, after listening to her plea, granted the accused N200, 000 bail with one surety in like sum.
The surety was asked to swear to an affidavit of means and must reside within the court’s jurisdiction in addition, to producing three years tax clearance and provide two recent passport photographs.
The Prosecutor, Sergeant Sunday Osanyintuyi, told the court that the accused committed the offences on July 16 at Igboye House, Ile-Ife.
The offence, the accused is being tried for contravened Sections 383, 390 (9) and 419 of
the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2003.
The case has been adjourned until September 1 for further hearing.
