55-yr-old Lagosian dies in motel room morning after first night with out-of-state lover
Abdulwaheed Lamidi lodged in at City International Motel, Ikotun, Lagos, with his inter-state girlfriend who arrived Saturday morning. He died Sunday morning.
Under investigation, the girlfriend, 32, said the 55-year-old met her online, they hit it off, and, after a while, he invited her for a meet-up in Lagos that Saturday .
According to her, she came from her state prepared to move in with him, based on their agreement.
But the morning after their first night together, Lamidi, she said, slumped on his way to bathroom.
“A doctor from a hospital close to the motel was called in to feel the ma’s pulse. The doctor confirmed him dead,” source said.
The ma’s family went to police to claim the corpse, and the lady told the police she was ready to face it alone.
SP Benjamin Hundeyin, Lagos police command spokesman, said the suspect declined to involve her parents in the investigation.
“We have contacted the deceased’s family and they have shown up. They are applying to just get their corpse. They said they were not interested in any criminal investigation,” he said, adding the command, however, wanted to drill down the incident.
