Mayhem as IPOB enforces Sept-14 order in southeast
The sit-at-home order IPOB issued for Sept 14 in commemoration of the invasion of its leader Nnamdi Kanu’s Umuahia country home in 2017 has gone violent.
The enforcers in Umuahia and Awka in Anambra have burnt down two vehicles and slashed citizens who refused to sit at home.
A tricycle operator was attacked in Awka, Anambra, on Tuesday morning along Arthur Eze Avenue.
His tricycle was thereafter set ablaze.
In Nanka, Orumba North Local Government Area, also in Anambra, a town service bus, which was said to be conveying passengers from Awka to Ekwulobia, was also attacked.
The enforcers made the passengers come down, and then torched the bus.
Spokesperson of the Anambra State Police Command, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga said there were incidents, but police officers have been dispatched to restore calm.
The sit-at-home enforcers yesterday also vandalized a school where students were writing the on-going WAEC.
The National Daily reported Ohaneze claimed the IPOB banditry has caused the region N3.8 trillion in five Mondays alone.
