Zulum distributes food items, cash to 100,000 Borno residents
Gov. Babagana Zulum of Borno has distributed food items and cash to 100,000 under-privileged households in Maiduguri Metropolitan and Jere Local Government Areas.
Speaking at the occasion in Maiduguri on Tuesday, Zulum said that the gesture was part of the distribution of palliatives by the administration to cushion the hardship occasioned by insurgency and COVID-19 pandemic.
Zulum said that the beneficiaries were carefully selected by government to support the needy, particularly during this period of Ramadan fasting.
He said that similar gesture had been extended to the needy in other local government areas.
Zulum said that all the male beneficiaries would get a bag of rice each, while the female ones would receive N10,000, 5kg. of sugar and a wrapper each.
In his goodwill message, Chairman of Maiduguri Metropolitan Council, Alhaji Bolori, described the gesture as timely, urging the beneficiaries to reciprocate it by using the Ramadan period to pray for peace in the state and nation in general.
