Mbah pledges to construct 10,000 kilometres of roads in Enugu State
Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Enugu State, Dr Peter Mbah says if he is elected, he will construct 10,000 kilometres of roads across the state to promote agriculture.
Mbah made the promise on Wednesday at town hall meetings held at Aninri East and Aninri South Development Centres in Aninri Local Government Area of the state.
“We shall construct 10,000 kilometres of roads across the state to enable easy movements of goods and farm produce to markets.
“Massive warehouses, equipment for processing, logistics and packaging will be made available. We shall generate economic agents that will patronise our farm produce,’’ he said.
He said his administration would provide access roads and complete an on-going dam project to promote irrigated farming.
He said would transform Enugu State from subsistence agriculture to an agro-industries hub.
Mbah assured also that he would turn Enugu State to be the food basket of the nation and also an exporter of agriculture produce.
“Our own crude oil here in Aninri is agriculture. We have arable land here. We are going to guard our land jealously and address all cases of trespass.
“It is part of our programme to establish special agro-allied processing zones across the state and we will provide all that our farmers need to scale up production,’’ Mbah assured.
Earlier, the member representing Aninri Constituency at the House of Assembly, Mr Chinedu Okwu and the Commissioner for Labour and Productivity, Mr Uchenna Ogbonna decried flooding in the area.
They noted that flooding had led to low agricultural productivity in the area and urged Mbah to complete the dam project started by the Federal Government in the area.
