Police raid baby factory, rescue pregnant girls
The Nasarawa State Police Command on Wednesday disclosed that detectives from the Police Area Command, New Karu, raided a baby factory in Ado Kasa, and rescued six young girls and a baby of about six months old.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Command, Ramhan Nansel, in a statement on Wednesday, disclosed that the girls and the baby were rescued at St. Bridget Orphanage Home operated by one Eze Ezeogu Norbert and others.
The PPRO added that Ezeogu was arrested with other suspects who include Nnaemeka Eze ‘F’, Okechukwu Ogechi ‘F’, and Obiagheli Chidi ‘F’.
Nansel stated that preliminary investigation revealed that the operator of the orphanage home abducts under-aged pregnant girls, hold them hostage till they give birth, and sell their children to the highest bidder.
According to the PPRO, further investigation revealed that the orphanage home was not registered.
The PPRO said the suspects and victims have been handed over to National Agency for the Prosecution of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) for further investigation and prosecution.
