Man sets self ablaze protesting cost of living, ‘stolen’ presidential mandate

A yet to be identified man, on solo protest of the high cost of living in the country, was said to have set himself ablaze. The man was also said to be protesting, what he considered “stolen” presidential election in the country.

This occurred in Kenya, East Africa, but the man was, however, rescued by passers by.

The Kenyan presidential election was won by William Ruto, who defeated the opposition leader, Raila Odinga.

A 44 seconds video trending online had portrayed a man pouring a liquid substance suspected to be flammable on himself, who thereafter, set himself ablaze on Thursday in Kenya.

The Kenyan in the suicide attempt, was protesting the high cost of living in the coastal city of Mombasa where he climbed on top of a statue in the middle of a busy roundabout.

The viral video showed the man holding the Kenyan flag while he set himself ablaze.
However, people within the vicinity were said to have responded urgently to put out the fire, and, subsequently took the man to a nearby Coast General Teaching and Referral Hospital, where he is being treated.

The man, regaining consciousness at the hospital,  revealed that he was protesting the high cost of living and last year’s “stolen” presidential election in which the opposition leader Raila Odinga lost to President William Ruto.
