Usyk’s best boxer of this era, says Apochi
One of Nigeria’s boxing heavyweight prospects, Efetobor Apochi, has described Oleksandr Usyk as the best boxer of this era after the Ukrainian’s recent sensational win over Tyson Fury in Saudi Arabia.
Oleksandr Oleksandrovych Usyk is a Ukrainian professional boxer.
Usyk is the first undisputed heavyweight champion since Lennox Lewis in 1999, and the first heavyweight in history to hold the world titles of all four major sanctioning bodies—the World Boxing Association (WBA) (Super version), World Boxing Council (WBC), International Boxing Federation (IBF), and World Boxing Organization (WBO)—in the “four-belt era”.
The 36-year-old made the observation in a post on his Instagram page on Tuesday while reflecting on the heavyweight unification bout billed as Ring of Fire, which took place at Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on May 18.
“I’ve known Usyk since the Baku 2011 Amateur World Championship.

“He’s undefeated for a reason, and he’s by far the best boxer of this era,” stated the microbiology graduate of the Federal University of Technology, Owerri, who has lost once in 12 fights since turning professional alongside his friend and another heavyweight prospect, Efe Ajagba, in 2017 after winning laurels for Nigeria at the amateur level for several years.
Usyk defeated Fury by a split decision in the rescheduled undisputed heavyweight championship to unify the WBA, IBF, WBO, IBO, and Ring heavyweight champions.
