Notorious kidnapper, Shaibu Alhaji Ahijo, arrested in Abuja
Shaibu Alhaji Ahijo, a 25-year-old notorious kidnapper, was arrested by operatives of the Scorpion Squad in Abuja on March 24. The arrest follows his involvement in several kidnappings across the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nasarawa, and Benue States.
Operatives of the Scorpion Squad have successfully apprehended Shaibu Alhaji Ahijo, a 25-year-old notorious kidnapper who had been declared wanted by the Department of State Services (DSS) and other security agencies.
Ahijo was arrested at Nyanya Under Bridge in Abuja on March 24 around 6:00 p.m., following a tip-off.
The arrest was revealed by counter-insurgency expert, Zagazola Makama, through a post on his X handle.
During interrogation, Ahijo reportedly admitted to being involved in numerous kidnappings across the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nasarawa, and Benue States. He also confessed to receiving ₦1 million in ransom from his most recent operation.
Further investigation revealed that three of his gang members—identified as Musa, Haruna, and Babangida (surnames unknown)—were killed by security operatives during a failed kidnapping attempt in Benue State.

After the deadly encounter, Ahijo fled to Abuja to regroup with his criminal network before his eventual capture.
Security sources confirmed that Ahijo remains in custody as investigations continue.
Authorities are working to dismantle the remnants of his criminal syndicate, with efforts focused on apprehending other members of the gang.
