Senator Diket Plang, the Vice Chairman of the Senate Committee on Federal Character and Inter-Governmental Affairs, has expressed his satisfaction with the ongoing transformation within the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), commending its innovation, infrastructure upgrades, and focus on staff welfare.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of new facilities at the FRSC headquarters in Abuja on Thursday, Senator Plang conveyed his consistent admiration for the Corps’ rapid development and significant achievements.
National Daily Newspaper reports that the newly inaugurated facilities include a state-of-the-art ICT hall, a renovated fourth-floor lobby, an efficient data collection centre, a welcoming reception area, and modern call centres.
Senator Plang remarked that his numerous visits to the FRSC had consistently left him impressed by the organization’s swift progress.
He specifically recalled when the ICT training centre was merely a proposal and praised the FRSC management for successfully bringing it to fruition.
He described the newly unveiled ICT hall as “unprecedented” in terms of both its quality and the meticulousness of its execution. “I’ve visited at different times, and I’m always amazed by the pace of change,” the Senator stated.
Senator Plang also highlighted the newly implemented digital gate system and the operational efficiency of the FRSC Radio 107.1 FM as notable accomplishments.

He commended the radio station for its clear signal, strong reception, and the professionalism of the staff who have seamlessly transitioned from their roles as safety officers to skilled broadcasters.
“I see teamwork, dedication, and joy. It clearly reflects inclusive leadership, innovation, and progress,” he emphasized.
Speaking on behalf of the 10th Senate, Senator Plang extended his commendation to the FRSC leadership, management, and all staff members for their unwavering commitment and dedicated service to the nation.
He underscored the critical role that land transportation plays in Nigeria’s economy, recognizing it as the most prevalent mode of travel for both goods and people. “There are no roads in the sky. Most goods and people move on land. Our economy depends greatly on moving goods efficiently across the country,” Senator Plang noted.
He lauded the Corps’ digital transformation initiatives as timely and particularly beneficial in enhancing public education through the effective use of ICT and the FRSC Radio.
Senator Plang pledged the continued legislative and financial support of the Senate to enable the FRSC to effectively fulfill its crucial mandates.
Addressing the importance of staff welfare, he emphasized that effective leadership must extend beyond the timely payment of salaries to include significant investments in staff development and comprehensive training programs. “Knowledge is power. If we work together and share ideas, Nigeria will progress,” he maintained.
Senator Plang also praised President Bola Tinubu’s recent approval of the new minimum wage, describing it as a welcome and positive development.
However, he also stressed the importance of leaders creating friendly and accessible work environments to foster enhanced productivity. “Accessible leadership boosts morale.
Let’s foster environments where feedback is valued and appreciation is shown,” he added.
He further advised that outstanding staff members should be recognized and rewarded not only with monetary incentives but also with formal commendation letters and prestigious awards.
