The Commissioner of Police in Kogi State, Miller Dantawaye, on Thursday, ordered Division Police Officers, Area and Tactical Commanders to beef up security ahead of the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations across the state.

Dantawaye, in a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Command, SP Williams Ovye-Aya, in Lokoja emphasised that the order was to prevent any untold situation in their respective area of responsibilities.

The CP also tasked them to conduct a comprehensive visibility policing and equally deploy human and other operational assets to carry out confidence-building and crime prevention patrol along major highways, places of worship and residential areas.

“You should conduct checks on other critical assets as well as undercover operations to identify criminal hideouts, black spots, and flash points to curtail all forms of crimes and ensure a peaceful environment.

“The Police is ever determined in working synergy with other Security Agencies in ensuring the safety of lives and property during the period,” he stated.

Dantawaye appealed to the people of Kogi for their continued cooperation and support by reporting any suspicious activities, or objects around their neighborhood to the security formation nearest to them. (NAN)
