Bandits release fresh video of abducted school principal, dispute government claims (watch video)
A new video has emerged showing the abducted principal, Mrs Alamu, allegedly speaking from captivity, in which she urged Nigerians to disregard earlier statements attributed to the Oyo State Government regarding the demands of her abductors.
In the video, which surfaced on Monday and is being circulated on social media, the principal claimed that reports suggesting the kidnappers were demanding the imposition of Sharia law in Oyo State, as well as a N1 billion ransom, were false.
Instead, she alleged that her abductors had only demanded the release of some individuals currently held in prison, insisting that such a move would secure the freedom of the kidnapped victims.
She further claimed in the video that the abductors had treated the victims well since their abduction, adding that they had not been physically harmed.
The abducted principal also appealed directly to Nigerians and the Oyo State Government to consider the alleged demand, urging authorities to release the detained individuals so that the captives could be freed.
However, the authenticity of the video and the circumstances under which it was recorded could not be independently verified at the time of filing this report.
Security agencies have not yet issued an updated response to the latest footage, while efforts to secure the release of the abducted school staff and students are understood to be ongoing.
The incident has continued to generate public concern, with citizens calling for intensified security operations and swift action to ensure the safe rescue of the victims.
Authorities are expected to provide further updates as investigations and rescue efforts progress.
