Biafra: AGF files fresh charges against IPOB leader Kanu

After securing his release from the State Security Service which held him for over 90 days, Nnamidi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, is facing six fresh charges in the Abuja High Court that released him December 17.

The fresh charges brought against him December 18, according to Kanu’s lawyer Vincent Obeta, range from treason and maintaining an unlawful society to possession of illegal items.

It was further stated that the allegations are capable of coercing President Muhammadu  Buhari to cede a part of the country to a Biafra nation.

The charges, signed by the Director of Public Prosecution Mohammed Diri, were filed by the Attorney-General of the Federation Abubakar Malami. signed The allegations contain offences punishable under sections 41 (C), and 63 of the Criminal Code Act, and section 47(2) (a) of the Customs and Excise Management Act.

Kanu was on the verge of being detained by the DSS for another 90 days when Juatice Ademola Adeniyi granted him unconditional release December 17.

Others charged along with the director of the pirate Radio Biafra are Benjamin Madubugwu and David Nwawuisi, both of whom are on the run.
