Anambra Assembly felicitates Obiano at 66
The Anambra State House of Assembly has felicitated Gov. Willie Obiano as he marks his 66th birthday on Aug. 8.
The house said during Thursday’s plenary session that Obiano’s leadership qualities had brought transformation in all the sectors of the state.
The lawmakers took turns to extol Obiano’s achievements, especially in security, agriculture, education and infrastructure development, including the international cargo airport.
They, however, urged the governor to place greater priority on road rehabilitation.
According to them, the deplorable condition of the roads were causing untold hardship to residents.
The National Daily reports that the house also passed a bill for a law to amend the Anambra State Mission School of Nursing and Midwifery, Alor.
It said the bill would enable the school to provide courses of instruction, training and other facilities in health-related issues.
Meanwhile, the Speaker, Mr Uche Okafor, has announced that the assembly would embark on a six-week summer recess.
He, however, said that house committees would continue with their work, including the oversight of ministries, departments and agencies.
