Another tanker falls over, explodes while rescue under way
A tanker loaded with petrol keeled over around 4am on Sunday at Rounder, Abeokuta, Ogun, and authorities began transloading and other safety measures.
According to Public Relations Officer, Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps, Babatunde Akinbiyi, had confirmed earlier that TRACE officials, Police, Federal Road Safety Corps and the firefighters were working assiduously to restore normalcy.
Akinbiyi said transloading was in progress, warning the general public, particularly the motorists and fuel scoopers domiciled or moving around the axis to remain calm and cooperative.
Unfortunately, the fallen taker eventually burst ito flames.
No casualty record yet.
Traffic has since been diverted to Olomore and Oke-Ata axis respectively as alternative routes.
Incidents of tanker explosion have been on the rise I the state. Two explosions were recorded within hours along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway last week.
