Auxiliary nurse gives her testimony of Mohbad’s final moments in coroner’s court
Feyisayo Ogedengbe, the auxiliary nurse who treated the late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, known as Mohbad, testified at the Coroner’s Court in Ikorodu, Lagos, detailing his last moments before his death.
Ogedengbe stated that on September 12, 2024, she was contacted by Ayobami Sodiq (Spending) to treat Mohbad at his Lekki residence. Upon arrival around 2:30 pm, she observed a swollen cut on his right hand and administered a tetanus shot to his upper arm.
Given Mohbad’s history of ulcers, she chose paracetamol over diclofenac and injected him with a diluted 4ml dose, followed by a slow 10ml ceftriaxone injection for infection.
However, as she administered ceftriaxone, Mohbad reacted negatively, began vomiting, and developed goosebumps. Ogedengbe alerted his wife, Omowunmi, who reassured her that it was his usual response to injections.

Omowunmi then took Mohbad to the bathroom and poured water on his head. Realizing the severity of his reaction, Ogedengbe and Sodiq rushed to a pharmacy for medication but faced delays.
Upon returning, they found Mohbad outside, preparing for hospital transport. Due to vehicle unavailability and traffic, he was taken on a motorcycle but was declared d+ad on arrival.
At the hospital, medical personnel hesitated to treat him, causing confusion. His body was later returned home at 8 pm, while Ogedengbe and others visited the police station for a death certificate.
The case continues, with a hearing scheduled for March 21. Meanwhile, the Lagos State DPP has announced that Ogedengbe and Sodiq will be prosecuted for reckless and negligent acts. However, musician Naira Marley, promoter Sam Larry, and others were acquitted of any involvement.
