Ayade assures 10,000 jobs from Calabar Truck Assembly Plant

Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River State at the weekend declared that
the Chinese truck maker, Foton Manufacturing Company, is set to
establish a vehicle assembly plant in Calabar, the Cross River State,
adding that the Plant will generate over 10,000 jobs in the state.
Governor Ben Ayade, receiving the group chairman, MSM Group, Muizammai
Rawani, and representatives of Foton Manufacturing Company with some
industrialists at the Government House, Calabar, emphasized that the
assembly plant when completed will create about 10,000 jobs in the
state, explaining that the choice of Calabar is a welcome development
due to the favourable investment opportunities and safe environment
that will make the company thrive.
The governor noted that his industrial revolution programme has
attracted many investments into the state, assuring that the state tax
regime will be favourable to the company, starting with the zero-tax
policy in the first 24 months of its establishment.
On his part, the Group Chairman, Foton Group, Muizammai Rawani,
expressed satisfaction with the works Governor Ayade is doing to make
cross river an industrial hub, assuring that Foton will key into the
vision that will turn around the state economy.
Governor Ayade later announced that Cross-river will buy 200 trucks
from the Chinese automaker as a demonstration of good faith and in
fulfillment of the minimum requirement for the citing of the plant in
the state.
