Ayra Starr unveils first look at Hollywood debut in ‘Children of Blood and Bone’ teaser

Nigerian Afrobeats sensation Ayra Starr has thrilled fans worldwide after appearing in a newly released behind-the-scenes teaser for the highly anticipated Hollywood fantasy film, Children of Blood and Bone, giving audiences their first glimpse of her acting debut.
The teaser, released by filmmaker Gina Prince-Bythewood ahead of the movie’s official trailer launch, showcases moments from the production of the Paramount Pictures adaptation. Although Ayra Starr’s appearance in the clip is brief, it marks the first time viewers have seen the Grammy-nominated singer in character for a major film role.
Based on Tomi Adeyemi’s bestselling fantasy novel, Children of Blood and Bone features a star-studded cast including Viola Davis, Idris Elba, Cynthia Erivo, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Regina King, Lashana Lynch, Damson Idris, Thuso Mbedu and Richard Mofe-Damijo. The movie is scheduled for release on January 15, 2027.
For Ayra Starr, whose real name is Sarah Aderibigbe, the film represents a major career milestone as her first attempt at portraying a fictional character on screen.
The singer said transitioning from music to acting required a new level of commitment and gave her deeper respect for professional actors.
“It’s a big deal. It’s my first movie ever. This is the first time I’m playing another character,” she said.
She added that the experience had changed her perspective on acting, saying, “I respect actors so much more now. Their stamina is impeccable.”
Fans have since flooded social media with congratulatory messages, celebrating her move into film and describing the casting as another indication of the expanding global influence of Nigerian talent.
The role adds another major achievement to Ayra Starr’s fast-rising international career, following her success as one of Africa’s leading young music stars.
