12-year-old Nigerian actor Chibuchi Francis wins bronze at global performing arts championship

Twelve-year-old Nigerian actor Chibuchi David Francis has brought international recognition to the country after clinching a bronze medal in the Acting category for ages 11–12 at the 2026 World Championships of Performing Arts (WCOPA) held in Las Vegas, Nevada, United States.
The young performer emerged among the top talents in his category at the prestigious global competition, which brings together emerging artistes from across the world in acting, music, dance and modelling.
Representing Nigeria on the international stage, Chibuchi impressed judges with his acting performance, earning a place among the outstanding young performers at the championship.

His achievement has been widely celebrated as a testament to the growing influence of Nigerian creatives in the global entertainment industry.
Arts and entertainment stakeholders described the feat as a reminder of the need to invest more in arts education, talent development and platforms that allow young Nigerians to showcase their skills internationally.
Following the announcement of his victory, Nigerians took to social media to celebrate the young actor, praising his talent, commitment and determination. Many also commended his family and mentors for their role in supporting and developing his creative journey.
For Chibuchi, the bronze medal represents a major milestone in his budding acting career and is expected to inspire other young Nigerians to explore opportunities the creative arts.
