Ayu: Makinde aligns with Tinubu, threatens Atiku
Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State may have aligned with the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, for the 2023 elections, threatening mobilise against the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, over the resistance to the demand for the resignation of the PDP national chairman, Iyorchai Ayu.
Makinde declared that if Ayu continues to be PDP’s chairman, he would only work for PDP candidates in Oyo State, with the exception of the presidential candidate, in 2023.
Makinde has been an ally of Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, including Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State, Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State, beside some former governors and PDP leaders.
Makinde’s shift towards Tinubu was not hidden when the Oyo State deputy governor accompanied the APC presidential candidate on his visit to a factional leader of Afenifere, Reuben Fasoranti, for endorsement in Akure, Ondo State, at the weekend.
