Bandits frustrate Gov Masari, kill 4, kidnap 17 in Katsina
Bandits have continued to frustrate Governor Aminu Masari of Katsina State, sustaining the insecurity crisis in the state. The bandits on Tuesday night invaded Tsayau community, Mallamawa Ward, Jibiya Local Government Area, Katsina State, where they killed four persons, kidnapped 17, and injured seven other persons.
The bandits also burnt buildings as well as rustling several cattle and destroying properties in the community.
The victims of the bandits’ assault in the rural community were identified to include women and children.
It was narrated that the bandits invaded the community at about 7.30pm, and started shooting sporadically in an operation that lasted about four hours without any intervention from the security operatives. Ther community was said to be about one kilometer from a military base in the territory.
Governor Masari, submitting to frustration from the bandits had enjoined residents of Katsina State to empower themselves for self-protection against bandits in the state. The governor’s frustration came after the conviction that the security agencies in Nigeria have become overwhelmed by the bandits and other actors of m violence in the country.
