Barber jailed 6 months for stealing a canopy
An Area Court in Jos on Monday sentenced a barber, Moses Tobi to six months in prison for stealing a canopy.
A panel of two magistrates, Ghazali Adam and Hyacinth Dolnaan, sentenced Tobi after he pleaded guilty to theft.
The magistrates gave him an option of N10,000 fine.
Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel Insp Ijupil Thawar told the court that the case was reported on May 14, at the ‘A’, Division Police station by Ms Esther Emmanuel, the complainant.
The prosecutor said that the convict stole the canopy worth N30,000 from the complainant’s fish stand.
The offence, he said, is punishable under the provisions of Section 272 of the Plateau penal code.
