Billionaire Branson in bicycle accident, hospitalised
Virgin CEO Richard Branson travelled to space and came back unhurt. But he made a hell of a bike ride in the British Virgin Islands recently, ending up with knobs and tears all over his 71-year-old body.
It was during a charity endurance race on the Tortola Island when the brakes on his bicycle failed. Worse, a van reared up right in front of them
“We had to brake very hard,” said his cycling partner.
“Richard, in a very nice and gentle manner said to me, ‘My brakes are failing!’
“Next thing I know, he jumped on my bike and we both crashed. I’ve never had someone push me off the road and apologise in advance. It was very gentle and nice of him, I’ve got to say!” he said.
Branson would later post on Instagram.
“Recovering well from a colossal cycling crash. Thankfully we’re ok, but some big bumps and bruises!”
