BREAKING: At last, Barcelona get a new coach
National Daily understands from the circulating reports that La Liga giants Barcelona have swiftly drafted yet another familiar face to oversee the affairs of their squad after former club’s legendary boss Ronald Koeman was fired recently.
It has been revealed that Al Sadd’s boss and former Barcelona midfield maestro Xavi Hernandez is returning to Camp Nou to replace Koeman as the head coach.
Al Sadd is believed to have released an official club statement approving the transfer of Xavi to Barca:
“Club administration have approved the transfer of Xavi to Barcelona after the payment of the clause stipulated in his contract. Xavi is considered an important part of our history and we wish him success in the future”
Meanwhile, National Daily can confirm that Xavi remains one of the most decorated players in the history of the Catalan club. The former midfielder was an integral member of the successful Barca team that ruled world football during his playing days at Camp Nou between 1997 and 2015.
The 41-year-old played a total former club record of 767 official matches which is now held by only Lionel Messi while scoring 85 goals with 185 assist. Xavi remains the first player in Barcelona history to play 150 European and FIFA Club World Cup matches combined.
Amazingly, Xavi won massive 25 trophies with Barca which included remarkable eight La Liga titles and four Champions League titles.
National Daily recalls that Xavi joined the Qatari Al Sadd side from Barcelona in 2015 and enjoyed four playing years with them before retiring to become their permanent manager in 2019 while only winning the league title in his second season as manager.
Xabi who had gone ahead to win five more trophies with Al Sadd has now decided to make a sensational return to Camp Nou having only previously rejected offers from the Catalan giants for lack of coaching experience.
The Blaugrana fans can only wish that the 41-year-old who is expected to be popular among them will help return their club to its glory days as experienced during his playing days when he made clear his choice to return to Camp Nou as the speculations emerged:
“I really want to go home. I hope it happens. I have a contract and now the clubs have to negotiate. They already know my position.”
And now, Xabi’s wish has been met after Barcelona officials were understood to have flown to Qatar to thrash out a deal with Al Sadd and the 41-year-old before the finalization of the agreement.
