Breaking: Report of missing 2016 budget proposal ready Thursday
The Senate committee report on the missing 2016 budget proposal will be discussed Thursday on the floor of the Senate.
Senate President Bukola Saraki said this Wednesday while responding to a point of order raised by PDP Sen. Eyinnaya Abaribe who noted there was no feedback since the matter was discussed in a closed-door session Tuesday.
“It was agreed in the closed session yesterday that the Senate will wait for a feedback from the committees assigned to look into the matter,” said Saraki, adding that “the feedback from the committees should be ready by tomorrow.”
It was reported then that both the soft and hard copies of the 2016 budget proposal President Muhammadu Buhari presented December 22 to the joint session of was missing.
Many of the PDP lawmakers believe the proposal, which could have been debated today, was spirited out of the complex by the presidency—in collusion with the NASS management—for the purpose of correcting certain discrepancies.
