Buhari empowers constituents
In a bid to uplift the economic status of women in Oke-Ogun and Ogbomosho geo-political zone of Oyo State, Senate Committee on Information Communication Technology (ICT) and cybercrime, Senator Abdulfatai Buhari representing Oyo North Senatorial district, has empowered over 500 persons in his constituency.
The event which was held at the NYSC permanent orientation camp, Iseyin, had beneficiaries drawn from the 13 local government areas of the Senatorial district which included traditional rulers, artisans, students, widows, religious organizations and communities who all benefited from the empowerment scheme.
The distributed items included 36 cars, 300 motorcycle, 300 sewing machines, 400 grinding machines, 40 deep freezers, power generating sets and13 electric transformers.
The senator, who was a former member of the House of Representatives, also distributed bursary and scholarship awards of N20,000 each to 200 students of higher institutions, while he awarded the sum of N25,000 each to 200 widows, who were carefully selected across the senatorial district.
Speaking at the event, the Senate Committee on ICT and Cybercrime, Senator Buhari, said the empowerment program was to appreciate his constituency and render support for economic advancement.He also informed the gathering of ongoing efforts to facilitate infrastructural development and other projects that will bring economic development to the state and Oyo North Senatorial districts.While reiterating his commitment to the development of his constituency and the state at large, the lawmaker called for more understanding.
