Cashier arraigned for stealing employer’s N1m
A 26- year-old cashier, Paul Clement, was on Thursday arraigned in Chief Magistrates’ Court in Kaduna State for allegedly stealing N1million belonging to his employer.
The defendant, who lives in Karji, Kaduna State, is charged with theft.
The Prosecution Counsel, Insp Chidi Leo, told the court that the defendant committed the offence between December 2021 and February 2022 at the Triple ‘A’ Venture Limited, situated on Lagos Street, Ahmadu Bello Way Kaduna.
Leo alleged that during the course of auditing, N1million was not remitted into the company’s account and the defendant could not account for it.
The offence, he said, contravened the provisions of Section 271 of the Penal Code of Kaduna State, 2017.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Magistrate, Ibrahim Emmanuel, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N200, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
Emmanuel ordered that the sureties must live within the court’s jurisdiction and must provide two passport photographs to the court.
He adjourned the case until June 28 for hearing.
