CHE VS EVE: 2 Wrong selections Thomas Tuchel made today
Chelsea hosts Everton at Stamford Bridge in today’s Premier League fixture. Thomas Tuchel side were looking to keep their fine form going with Everton struggling to earn three points in recent matches. Of course, it would be a difficult one for Thomas Tuchel side especially with the selections he made in today’s match. Here are the two terrible Selections Thomas Tuchel made in today’s starting lineup.
Thomas Tuchel didn’t have much options on his bench as most of the first team attackers tested positive for covid 19. Players like Kai Havertz, Timo Werner, Romelu Lukaku, Callum Hudson-odoi were all excluded from today’s squad. Thomas Tuchel played with Christian Pulisic up front in the strike position. It shouldn’t have been so, excluding Christian Pulisic and making N’golo Kante play a deeper role in attack would have been better.
Perhaps, Thomas Tuchel has other plans in mind. Mason Mount and Hakim Ziyech made formed good partnership in recent matches, they might not cope with Christian Pulisic in strike. Their crosses will be of no use as the American doesn’t possess great aerial strength. Chelsea will have to play more through balls if they want to get the best out of Christian Pulisic in today’s match.
Another tough selection Thomas Tuchel made was starting Edouard Mendy ahead of Kepa Arrizabalaga. Edouard Mendy hasn’t been himself in recent matches, Kepa Arrizabalaga proved himself when Chelsea faced Zenit St Petersburg in their final Champions League group match. Kepa Arrizabalaga should be in goal against Everton, the Spaniard will be more focused than Edouard Mendy as he will be fighting for his place in the first team.
