Crime of passion: Man locks wife up, sets apartment ablaze in heat of anger

A man and his wife arguing got passionate about the bone of contention, and in no time the husband set their apartment ablaze, locking her inside.

Ebere, as the wife was identified, died.

But the firebug of a husband is now at large.

According to co-tenants on Ifesowapo Street, Asolo Agbede, Ikorodu, Saturdays ago, Ebere suddenly rushed down to the building passage, collapsed as she cream for neighbors to take to hospital.

The only visible burn then was her hand.

The neighbor helped, without the presence of her husband who left the scene after his failed attempt to rescue.

Ebere was moved from the first hospital to the Ikorodu General Hospital where more injuries—on her chest and others—were discovered.

She was placed o admission until she died –after about a week.

What led to the pyrotechnics?

Neighbours said infidelity.

The husband will have to clarify this if he ever comes back.

As of now, the police have not been informed, and the husband, who probably got burnt, too, is somewhere taking treatment.
