Customs intercepts explisive-making chemical worth over N33m
The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) says its has intercepted 20 drums of Carbide (an explosive device), worth N33,398,400, between Abeokuta and Ijebu-Ode axis of Ogun State.
The Acting Comptroller, Federal Operations Unit (FOU), Zone A, Hussein Ejibunu, made this known during a press briefing in Lagos on Tuesday, September 6.
The drums of chemical were among the things seized by custom operatives in August 2022.
According to him, “The unit seized 20 drums of Carbide, along Ijebuode in August. The substance used for the production of IED. If allowed to get into the hands of unscrupulous persons, it could cause very serious security concern. And the importation of this has to be approved with an End User Certificate from the office of the National Security Adviser.
Seizures made within the month of August 2022, were gotten from Idi-Roko, Oyo Axis, Seme Road, Ijebu-Ode Road and the Ports Corridors.
