Delta PDP Congress: Okowa urges oil attackers to embrace peace
• As Esiso emerges State Chairman

DELTA State Governor, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Okowa, has said the peaceful congresses recorded by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from the Ward to the state level were clear testimonies that “Deltans are organized and peaceful people.”
The Governor made the statement in Asaba, during the state congress of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
At the congress, which was conducted by an 11-man team from the PDP Secretariat in Abuja, led by Dame (Mrs) Uzo Nwandu and supervised by a team of officials from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Barr. Kingsley Esiso emerged as the Chairman of the party while Barr. Val Arenyinka was elected as Deputy Chairman.
Others who emerged victorious in the congress which was devoid of any form of rancour were, Mr Moses Iduh, vice chairman – Delta North Senatorial District; Chief Dr A. Fovie. Vice chairman – Delta Central Senatorial District; Hon. Emmanuel Agbanigbo, Vice Chairman – Delta South Senatorial District; Chief Godday Nzete – secretary; Mr John Okoroloko, Assistant Secretary; Hon. Deighan Macaulay, Treasurer; Hon. Tony Anuku, Assistant Treasurer; Mr Ralph Asi, Financial Secretary; Hon. Michael Osuoza, Publicity Secretary; Mr London Owofasa, Assistant Publicity Secretary; MrSunday Onoriode, Organizing Secretary; Barr. Odior Bernard, Legal Adviser; Barr. Hessington Okolo, Assistant Legal Adviser; Chief J. J. Scott, Auditor; among others.
Governor Okowa stated, “we thank God for a very peaceful congress in our state, the Ward and local government congresses were peaceful and Delta State has shown that we are organized people, we are proud of ourselves.”
“In a very peaceful congress, we have been able to elect our 27-man executive committee for our great party, the PDP; I commend PDP faithful, I commend the youths for the roles they play and I thank our women and our elders for their commitment to our party,” the Governor emphasized.

The Governor also, commended the immediate past executive committee of the party in the state for a job well done “and I know that in going into the congresses, Chief Edwin Uzor (the immediate past Chairman of the party) worked tirelessly for us to have consensus situation that we have today.”
“I congratulate the executive committee and I want to call on all Deltans to partner with us, Deltans should pray for us and I appeal to our brothers and sisters who are still attacking oil facilities to embrace peace, they need to be patient with the state and the federal government because things will turn out to be better, for now oil prices are down but, we are working for the internally generated revenue to increase,” he said, disclosing that plans were on to engage the youths and women as liaison officers at different Wards of the state to assist in monitoring projects at that level.
Speaking on behalf of the elected officers, Esiso thanked members of the party for their confidence in their ability to take the party to greater heights, assuring that the PDP winning streak would be sustained.
He also used the occasion to state that his executive committee would sustain the zoning formula of the party.
The immediate past Chairman of the party, Chief Uzor thanked members of the party for their support which led to the success stories of the party at the polls and called for extension of such support to the new executive committee while Mrs Nwandu observed that the elections were peaceful and congratulated the PDP in Delta State for a peaceful congress.
