Donald Trump vows to make US crypto world capital
Donald Trump, the 45th president of the United States and current Republican flagbearer for the upcoming November presidential elections, has pledged to transform the US into the world’s crypto capital.
Speaking at the Bitcoin 2024 conference in Nashville, Trump addressed an audience of over 20,000 attendees, the largest gathering in Bitcoin’s history.
In his address, Trump expressed admiration for the crypto community, likening its innovative spirit to the steel industry of his youth.
Arriving an hour late, he compared Bitcoin to gold, predicting that Bitcoin would soon surpass it. “Bitcoin is not just a marvel of technology, as you know, it’s a miracle of cooperation and human achievement,” Trump said.
Trump also tackled the issue of Bitcoin mining and its notorious energy consumption, stating that he plans to utilize fossil fuels to generate the necessary energy.

Doubling down on his crypto commitment, Trump urged the crypto community to support his candidacy, promising policies that would favor the sector. He emphasized his vision of the US leading the global crypto wave and advancing the technology further than any other country.
“If crypto is going to define the future, it’s going to be mined, minted, and made in America. If Bitcoin is going to the Moon, as they say, I want it to be America that sends it there,” he declared.
Trump, often dubbed the “crypto president” for his public stance on the issue, has inspired memecoins in the PoliFi category, with Maga (TRUMP) being the largest, boasting a market capitalization of $266 million.
The Bitcoin conference, the world’s largest crypto enthusiast gathering, took place from July 25 to 27, with Trump speaking on the final day. Although Democratic frontrunner Kamala Harris was rumored to attend, she ultimately did not make an appearance.
