Edo communities commend Hon. Idahosa over electricity restoration
Residents of Iguobazuwa community and environs in Ovia South West Local Government Area of Edo State have expressed their appreciation Hon. Dennis Idahosa, lawmaker representing Ovia federal constituency in the National Assembly (NASS), for his intervention in the power outage that has crippled economic activities and also affected night life in the area.
Mr Goodluck Uyigue, a resident, while speaking on the matter, described Idahosa as “God Sent” to the people of Ovia.
“When it got spoiled, we were told that to fix it, it will cost us over N10 Million. It was at this point that the community began to tax each household to raise the funds.
“However, while the collection was going on, the lawmaker, Dennis Idahosa, came into the picture and asked that all collected monies as at then be refunded and that he will take it up as his responsibility”
According to him, the area has been under total darkness for the past eight months after eight months occasioned by a faulty MVA transformer, an unmanned substation at popular Iguobazuwa junction.

The power supply which was restored on Saturday, saw residents of the community in trooped out in their number to celebrate the restoration of power to the areas.
The residents noted that the lawmaker’s intervention came at a time that festive period is fast approaching.
The respondents stressed that the faulty transformer took time to be replaced because they were told by the Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) that it would cost over N10 Million to do that.
In the middle of this however, it was discovered that the three major transformers servicing the community and environs had been vandalised.
“Again, he took it as additional responsibility and ensured that power supply was restored to the area. We cannot be grateful enough to Hon. Dennis Idahosa for all that he is doing to uplifting the standard of living in the federal constituency.
