Ekiti woman dies after alleged beating by husband in Ondo
Tragedy struck in Efon Alaaye, Ekiti State, as a woman identified as Modupe Alasin reportedly died after being brutally beaten by her husband.
According to eyewitness accounts, the man allegedly flogged his wife mercilessly for arriving late to the farm. A resident who witnessed the assault said Modupe was heard crying and begging for mercy as her husband continued to lash her repeatedly.
Moments after the beating, the husband reportedly instructed her to fetch water from a nearby stream. However, on reaching the stream, Modupe collapsed and died.

Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the Ekiti State Police Command, SP Sunday Abutu, told reporters that the suspect had been arrested and is currently in custody for further investigation.
“Yes, the incident is true. The suspect has been arrested, and investigations are ongoing,” Abutu said.
The incident has sparked outrage among residents of Efon Alaaye, with many condemning the act of domestic violence that led to Modupe’s death.
Police authorities have assured that the matter will be thoroughly investigated and justice served.
