Antonio Conte could make a shock return to Juventus this summer, with Andrea Pirlo assisting him.
Tuttosport reports the idea of Juve bringing Conte back for a second spell as Coach ‘is no longer extravagant fantasy’ as he has ‘all the elements’ to succeed Max Allegri, who seems increasingly likely to leave Turin this summer.
The former Italy CT left the Bianconeri in July 2014 after having begun their run of seven straight Scudetti, but the newspaper writes he greeted President Andrea Agnelli during December’s 1-0 home win against Roma.
The 49-year-old would also represent one of the most affordable options in comparison to the likes of Pep Guardiola and Zinedine Zidane, although the publication writes the Frenchman ‘remains the strongest candidate’ to replace Allegri.
Tuttosport accepts his poor record in the Champions League counts against him but claims winning the Premier League with Chelsea redeems him somewhat.
Furthermore, Pirlo – who had reportedly held talks to become the next Coach of Juve’s reserve team – could instead assist the man who took him to Turin in 2011.
Conte is currently out of work after leaving Chelsea last summer, while he has also been linked with Inter, Roma and Real Madrid in recent months.
