Ex-SGF Lawal caged by EFCC
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has detained former Secretary to the Government of the Federation Babachir Lawal, for alleged fraud to the tune of N223m.
It was learnt that Lawal arrived at the Abuja office of the EFCC around 11am on Wednesday after which he was detained.
It is not clear yet if the arrest had been on schedule. But many might take it as some knee-jerk reaction to the open letter former President Olusegun Obasanjo published yesterday, criticising the President Muhammadu Buhari government for its clannishness and condonation.
Babachri had been investigated and indicted in a corruption allegation involving diversion of funds meant for IDP camps in Borno in 2017.
His counterpart in National Intelligence Agency caught with billions of naira stashed in a luxury apartment was frisked by the EFCC immediately after the investigation.
