Federal Government takes over Hadejia wetlands national park
The Federal Government has officially assumed control of the Hadejia Wetlands National Park, a crucial ecological area in Nigeria. This significant move aims to protect the park’s biodiversity and ensure its sustainable management.
The Federal Government has officially assumed control of the Hadejia Wetlands National Park from the Jigawa State Government.
This announcement was made on Friday, September 13, 2024, by the Conservator-General of the National Park Service (NPS), Dr. Ibrahim Goni.
Speaking at the decoration ceremony of Assistant Conservator Generals (AC-Gs) and Conservator of Parks (CPs) in Abuja, Dr. Goni stated that the handover took place on September 10.
Deputy Conservator of Park (DCP) Jonah Moses has been appointed as Acting CP to oversee the management of the newly acquired park.
Dr. Goni emphasized the NPS’s commitment to the welfare of its staff and highlighted the prioritization of promotions.
He urged the newly promoted officers to view their advancements as a motivation to work even harder and contribute more to the service.
The three officers promoted to the rank of ACGs are Zanna Lawan, Abdulraham Muhammed, and Gabriel Agba.
Additionally, Danjuma Magaji, Babatunde Arogunjo, and Abdulaziz Adewunmi were promoted to the rank of CPs.
Specific responsibilities within the park have been assigned to the newly promoted ACGs.

Mohammed Abdulraham will oversee Veterinary Services, Gabriel Agba will head Information and Communication Technology, and Zanna Lawan will be responsible for Works and Maintenance.
In his welcome address, CP Mike Okea commended the promoted officers for their dedication and hard work.
He encouraged them to continue their efforts and contribute more to the service.
On behalf of the newly promoted officers, AC-G Abdulraham Muhammed expressed gratitude for the swift approval of their promotions and commended Dr. Goni for his mentorship.
