FG allocates N470bn to payment of salary increase for lecturers in 2023 budget
The Minister of Finance, Zainab Ahmed, at a media briefing on Wednesday in Abuja, disclosed that Federal Government allocated N470 billion Special Fund in the 2023 budget for university revitalisation and payment of salary increase of lecturers.
She noted that N300 billion is allocated for university revitalisation and N170 billion allocated for upward adjustments of the university lecturers’ salaries.
The Minister also stated that N2.05 trillion is allocated to education and N1.58 trillion allocated to health in the budget.
Zainab Ahmed further said that N2.74 trillion is allocated to defense and security, N998.9 billion for infrastructure, and N756 billion for social development and poverty reduction.
The minister gave further breakdown of the 2023 budget in other sectors as presented to the National Assembly a fortnight ago by President Muhammadu Buhari.
