Putin declares martial law in 4 annexed regions of Ukraine
President Vladimir Putin of Russia on Wednesday announced introduction of martial law in four regions that voted in a referendum to quit Ukraine and join the Russian Federation.
President Putin, in a televised statements to members of the Security Council, directed the setting up of a special coordinating council under Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin to work with Russia’s regions to strengthen the war in Ukraine.
Russia had appointed officials in Kherson, one of the four regions.
Putin was of the view that the actions would increase the stability of the economy, industry, and production in support of Russia’s special military operation in Ukraine.
According to Putin, “We are working on solving very complex, large-scale tasks to ensure a reliable future for Russia, the future of our people.”
