FG sets June 12 deadline for oil bid submissions
The Federal Government has announced June 12, 2026, as the deadline for the submission of bids in Nigeria’s 2025 Oil Licensing Round, marking a key milestone in the country’s ongoing efforts to attract investment into its upstream petroleum sector.
The announcement is expected to guide interested local and international oil companies as they prepare applications for available oil blocks under the licensing programme.
Authorities say the licensing round is designed to boost exploration activities, increase crude oil reserves, and strengthen government revenue in the face of global energy transition pressures and fluctuating oil prices.
Industry stakeholders view the bid process as a critical opportunity to deepen participation in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector, particularly as the country seeks to improve production output and attract fresh capital inflows.
The Nigerian upstream petroleum sector has faced challenges in recent years, including underinvestment, pipeline vandalism, and regulatory uncertainties, which officials say the licensing round aims to address through improved transparency and investor confidence.
Further details on the specific oil blocks on offer and evaluation criteria are expected to be released ahead of the submission deadline as the process advances.
