Fulham FC arrive Uyo to scout Players
The management staff of Fulham Football Club of London in England, this evening arrived Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital with a mission of scouting talented and young players from ONE Football Club Academy, National Daily learnt.
Receiving them at the Victor Attah International Airport, the Chairman, Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly Committee on Youth, Sports and Security, Rt. Hon. Otuekong Nse Essien said the management staff are on a two-day visit to the State, and that they are coming to collaborate with the State government especially in developing the sporting sector.
Otuekong Nse Essien said while they are in Uyo, the Fulham FC management staff will watch the training session of ONE FC academy, adding that the expectation is that at the end of their stay, they will discover young talents from the State and take them back to England.
He noted that his committee in particular and the State government in general is willing to partner with the London based club to develop football in Akwa Ibom State.
The Sports Committee Chairman maintained that his vision is to ensure that football in the State is taken to the next level even as he disclosed he has began contacting FC Porto of which when final arrangement is concluded, an academy of the Portuguese based club would be established in Akwa Ibom State.
