Gov Masari suffers setback as Katsina lawmakers reject 5 nominees for appointment
The Katsina State House of Assembly has disclosed the rejection of five nominees submitted to the lawmakers by Governor Aminu Masari for screening and confirmation as members of the katsina State Independent Electoral Commission (SIEC).
Majority leader of the House, Alhaji Abubakar Suleiman-Abukur, in a media interaction in Katsina on Wednesday, clarified that the decision made during deliberations at plenary on Tuesday.
According to the majority leader, “The decision is sequel to the unanimous dissatisfaction of the lawmakers with the performance of the nominees in their first tenure.
“Added to the dissatisfaction with the performance of the nominees, the Assembly considered their old age as a factor not to confirm them.
”The Assembly has directed the Clerk of the House to communicate with the executive arm of the government to submit other names for screening.”
Suleiman-Abukur revealed the rejected nominees to include Algaji Kasimu Sada-Kukasheka, from Kankara Local Government Area (LGA), Alhaji Ahmed Abdullahi from ‘Dandume, Alhaji Idris Suleiman-Muhammad from Mai’adua LGA, Alhaji Rabi’u Yakubu from Ingawa LGA and Alhaji Ibrahim Yusuf from Kurfi LGA.
