Otunba Segun Adewale (Aeroland) has described the recent outburst by Former Governor Peter Ayodele Fayose, sequel the conclusion of the Peoples Democratic Party’s Southwest zonal congress at Oshogbo Osun state, as a deceitful and cynical move all out to discredit a most civil and democratic process.
The party Chieftain who was also an ex-officio from Lagos state at the congress, made the assertion in his recent reactions to Governor Fayose’s disclosure, that his camp was allegedly rigged out at the Oshogbo venue of the congress.
According to Adewale there are no iota of truth in Governor Fayose’s claims but basically figments of his own imagination, Adewale notes with dismay the height the former Ekiti state Governor went in his campaign of calumny against the person of the only PDP Governor in Southwest.
Makinde, he affirmed has conceded lots of grounds for Governor Fayose, all in search of peace to forge a formidable front to rewrite the political history of Nigeria for the maximal benefit of all.
“Contrary to Fayose claims on the national television portraying Governor Seyi Makinde badly, it is a lie,Makinde is not like that, he is a gentle and amiable Governor but highly decisive and calculative.
“It is unprecedented that he as a Governor remains the first to opt for elections without lording himself over the party, he insisted that whatever I want let me go get on the field, in time past the sitting Governor determine a whole lot of things,like who becomes the Chairman and almost all positions in the party.
“Even during Governor Fayose’s tenure in office as a Governor,then we had Eddie Olafeso and others brought in by fiat, but this man is clearly deviating from that style and decided to adhere strictly to what the constitution says.
“Governor Fayose is the one making things difficult in the Southwest. Governor Makinde has taken all forms of insults he hardly talks.
“When Congress was to be held on a particular date in Ibadan, Governor Fayose’s group went to court to stall it and National postponed the congress. On another date when the congress ought to be held, the national picked Ibadan as the venue, Governor Fayose insisted that the congress will not be held in Ibadan but rather in Ogun or Oshogbo and the Governor even conceded again,what does he want again?
“The most unfortunate and quite annoying thing is that the elective congress was moved away from a PDP state where the only PDP Governor in Southwest held sway to an APC state, where former Governor Aregbesola who had close affinity with Governor Fayose and also had structure, in a state where APC presidential aspirant Bola Ahmed Tinubu is rumoured to have a lineage link with the present Governor Oyetola,the number one nemesis that PDP had.Tinubu is also in the race for presidency come 2023.
“Our congress is so germane to an extent that it will determine who wins the election in 2023, if we do it right PDP wins if not APC wins. This man again reconceded to go to the enemy’s territory for election,what has he done wrong? Election was conducted by the national not by Makinde men.
“If at all there were issues with the election, we were given opportunity to object or protest the outcomes, I was there, many things were objected and rectified there and then. Why will Governor Fayose now go on the TV and start castigating or disparaging the party and the Governor?
Makinde never claimed entitlements for once, so rather than dwell on a lost battle the time is now, that we need team up and fight the monster bedevilling our nationhood as represented by APC’s government, people are suffering terribly out there nothing like governance any where, we are the party that will determine the destiny of Nigeria.
“I wonder why the leadership of the party and some PDP members still want to keep following a two term Governor that can’t win ordinary councillorship seat without the help of federal might,compared with a man who have shown us how to defeat APC without necessarily relying on the centre.
“We ought to be looking at where we have been failing in the past, like Lagos and other states in the Southwest and critically reconcile the aggrieved ones, enough of all these charade on national television.
“Imagine if it were to be Governor Wike or any current serving PDP Governor, none will ever tolerate what Governor Seyi Makinde went through, let alone moving a major PDP election from their states to an opposition state.
“If at all his threat of forming a parallel exco following the courts decision were anything near the truth, then he would have confirmed the insinuation that he has an hidden agenda of working for or that means he has a pact with APC.” Said Adewale.
